The Role

As a Helper, you work alongside a Team Lead and (sometimes) one other Helper. You'll clean recurring homes, deep cleans, move-ins, move-outs, and short-term rental turnovers across the Dallas–Fort Worth metro.

Bathrooms — clean toilets, tubs, showers, sinks, mirrors, floors. Restock paper and soap.
Kitchens — degrease stovetops, wipe counters and appliances, clean sinks, mop floors
Bedrooms & living areas — dust all surfaces, vacuum, change linens on STR jobs, make beds
Trash & laundry — empty all bins, replace liners, start laundry on STR turnovers
Follow the checklist for each job type — recurring, deep clean, move-out, and STR each have their own scope
Work as a team — divide rooms with your Lead, communicate clearly, help each other finish on time
Clock in and out on your phone via Timeero. Drive time between jobs is paid.
Care for supplies and the vehicle — don't leave trash, don't mix chemicals, follow safety training

A Day in the Life

A typical Tuesday for a Helper. Hours vary — most days run 6-8 hours of paid time including drive time.

7:30 AM
Meet the Lead at the start point
You drive yourself to a meet point or first-job address. Hop in the company van with the Lead and your fellow Helper.
7:45 AM
Clock in, first job starts
The Lead walks the home with the customer and assigns you a zone — usually bathrooms and bedrooms for newer Helpers.
10:00 AM
Finish job #1, load up, head to job #2
Drive time is paid. Lunch and water break in the van between stops if needed.
10:30 AM
Job #2 — STR turnover
Faster, tighter scope. You strip beds and start laundry, then move to bathrooms while the Lead handles kitchen.
12:30 PM
Lunch — unpaid 30 min, clock out
Bring your own food or stop nearby. Clock back in when ready.
1:00 PM
Job #3 — move-out deep clean
More detailed work. Inside cabinets, baseboards, oven. The Lead handles the toughest zones — you take the standard rooms.
4:00 PM
Clock out, head home
Lead drops you back at your car. Day is done. Tomorrow brings a fresh route.

This Job Isn't For Everyone

Being honest up front saves everyone time. Here's what this job is not:

  • Not a desk job. You'll be on your feet, lifting, scrubbing, and moving fast for 6–8 hours a day.
  • Not flexible 'when I feel like it' hours. We commit to customer appointments — you commit to being there.
  • Not a temp gig. We're investing in training, raises, and benefits because we want you for the long haul.
  • Not solo work. You'll be on a 2-3 person team — communication and teamwork matter.
  • Not a fit if you avoid hard physical work. This job rewards stamina and care.

Common Questions

Do I need cleaning experience?

1+ year of cleaning experience is strongly preferred — residential, hotel housekeeping, or commercial all count. We still train every new Helper on our specific checklists, techniques, and apps, but experienced applicants move to the top of the stack. What we can't train is reliability and attitude — those you need to bring on Day 1.

How are hours actually tracked?

We use Timeero (or Gusto Time) on your phone. You clock in at the start of your shift, clock out at lunch (30+ min lunches are unpaid), clock back in, and clock out at the end of the day. Drive time between jobs is automatically paid.

What's the typical weekly schedule?

Monday through Friday, roughly 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Most weeks are 30–40 hours. Saturdays come up sometimes — paid at standard rate. Sundays only for STR emergencies, paid at 1.5×.

How do I get to the jobs?

You need reliable transportation to reach the meet point each morning — carpool, rideshare, or bus all work, but owning a personal vehicle is strongly preferred because it gives you more scheduling flexibility and removes risk of late arrivals.

What's the path to becoming a Team Lead?

At minimum: 6 months on the job, no complaints in the last 90 days, and management approval. Bilingual Helpers are strongly preferred for Lead roles since they communicate with both customers and crew. Becoming a Lead means a higher base, double the commission rate, and a take-home company vehicle.

What if I damage something at a customer's home?

Sparkly carries liability insurance for accidental damage during cleanings. Tell your Lead immediately — they'll report it with a photo. You're not personally liable for honest accidents. We only charge employees for damage when negligence is documented (e.g. ignoring training).

What about benefits — health insurance?

We're transparent: we do not currently offer health insurance or a health stipend. As the W-2 team scales and cash flow permits, this may change. For now we offer competitive base pay, automatic raises, commission, full tips, retention bonuses, PTO, sick days, and a retirement plan after 6 months.
